Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins (born in Mexico) is a Mexican American sportscaster. She currently works as a sportscaster for ESPN, working as an anchor of SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. She began working for ESPN as a reporter in the year 2016. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a television reporter. Antonietta has been bilingual since her age of nine. Her skill was instrumental in helping her land her first position as production assistant for Univision Miami, where she assisted the production of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Following this she was hired by her CBS affiliate of St. Petersburg employed her as a sport reporter. After 2009, the reporter relocated into Rio Grande Valley Texas where she worked for KNVO TV 48 Univision as and Fox2 News. In reporting on news stories about drug trafficking and immigration from both sides of the Mexico-Texas border, she was reporter for news for the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 at 5pm, then as a reporter for news in English at 9 pm and the news anchor was on until 10 pm, and then returned on KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel. In addition, she was an anchor for weather anchors, sports anchors and forecasters. She then anchored and reported on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was given more responsibilities. She covered all of the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason, Finals FC Dallas as well the Dallas Stars. She produced Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and was the anchor. She was promoted to anchor the sports segment on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In the same capacity she also worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) and Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports channel). Antonietta Collins was a native of Veracruz Mexico. They eventually moved in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November 1985. There is an older sister. The family moved from Mexico to Miami in 1992, after having left Mexico. In 1992, the couple divorced then shortly thereafter in 1995 she got married again Fabio Fajardo who was a naval engineer who passed away in 2006 from kidney cancer. It was on a summer vacation that she stayed with her sibling living in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl was offered an employment. Antonietta was just graduating from high school but already knew her plans for what she would be doing. In the end she was enthralled with the campus. They also offered her a an academic major. After completing her high school education, she enrolled in the university to study media studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who also managed the WRMU's 91.1FM station, where she was employed for many years, became her friend. It was he who inspired her faith and confidence, as well as whose enthusiasm in Journalism touched her deeply. She determined to meet his demands and never let him down.
